H A W A I I - Day 3

DAY 3 - PEARL HARBOR AND CITY TOUR
Bill and us waiting in line to watch a video of actual footage from that day, boy was that emotional.

This is the USS Arizona Memorial taken from the ferry boat.

This is a diagram of the USS Arizona. I know it is hard to see, but the dark spots are the pieces of the ship that can be seen above water, the white strip in the middle is the actual memorial we are standing on.
This is one of the gunners. In the far distance are markers of other ships in the harbor that day.
If you look closely you can see a bouy in the center of the picture; this is a marker for the front of the ship. Below you can see the bouy for the back of the ship.
Where we are standing is the middle; the ship was enormous.

These are the names of all the service men killed on the USS Arizona.

Oil still leaks from the ship below, they say there is still hundreds of thousands of gallons of oil in the ship and the day it got hit there was just over 1 million gallons...wow.

- ANOTHER TOUR STOP -

King Kamahamaha Statue - the last king of the islands.

His palace...not too shabby

Beth Willis, Theresa Hereford and me.
Beth & Theresa are my uplines in my Cookie Lee business, in a way I have to thank them for this trip too. Their support and leadership helped me earn it...thanks ladies - I love ya!

Samuel was napping when we got to the statue so Wes stayed on the bus with him. Poor little man, he was so tired.

BACK TO THE BEACH

This is actually the view from our room that afternoon...the water is SO blue.

Samuel taste-testing the sand, look closely you will see he is spitting it out.

Little Digger'

Sharing a 'Blue Hawaiian' shaved ice. Samuel thought that was so cool...probably because he has never had anything like it before, so I guess it pays off to be in need of a little sugar and the closest thing is a shaved ice shack. ;)

"see my tongue mommy"

He spotted a playground and off he went. Up and down the slide, his favorite thing at the park.

Isn't he adorable!!
His grin just melts me!
